The Epic Tri

Friends of ours Bruce Duncan and Anthony Emmet took on an amazing challenge to Run the Bob Graham Round, to cycle Lands End to John O Groats and to Paddle the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race .. one after the other. And in the process they raised £25,000

Open Tracking transformed an extreme adventure with complicated logistics into a truly personal link to each spectator anywhere in the world. Each move of our epic journey in UK was followed by enthusiasts from Australia to Hong Kong, on mobile phones to work computers, we were in their minds every step of the way. This allowed us to raise awareness and support for our cause in a way that was unthinkable without this technology. From an athlete's perspective it brought the adventure to life, allowing us to connect with people and enable supporters to join our journey, without this we would not have succeeded.

Thank you Open Tracking, from Ant and Bruce, The Epic Tri

The Spine 2013

To be honest Open Tracking were not formally invited to track this event, what happened came about by chance. A friend of ours Gary Tompsett was testing a few of the trackers and visited this amazing foot race. 270 miles of the Pennine Way in winter. As it turned out the trackers came in to their own as he placed them on a few groups towards the end of the event. You can read more here

Since the event Scott Gilmour from the Spine Race conveyed his thanks and went on to work with Open Tracking in 2014 and 2015.

adidas TERREX Expedition 2012

The adidas TERREX Sting Adventure Race in August 2012 was a 5 day expedition for 36 teams of four. The teams travelled from Stirling, through the Trossachs, paddled Loch Tay and the River Tay, cycled over to Braemar and before heading south to Stirling via Perth.

Each tracking unit sent the team location every 90 seconds to the Open Adventure web server, 24 hours a day, automatically updating the leaderboard. This provided a very sticky website for online viewers along with vital event management and logistical information.

The technology used in this event was short listed for a 2012 International Sports Event Management Award; view the submission document (2.2MB)

London to Monte Carlo

Nigel Payne contacted us looking for a tracker for their challenge of cycling from London to Monte Carlo. To make this more cost effective we changed the SIM's we normally use and the settings on the tracker. Open Tracking were able track them every 90 seconds along the 13 day ride through France.

Nigel's quote "An amazing job Rob & team: you guys are sensational."
